About

Me doing a seminar on Panda's HIPS solutions in Sept. 2006

I am Daniel Nyström. During daylight I’m the Technical Support Manager for Panda Security in Sweden & Finland and at night I’m that guy you don’t want to meet in an empty parkinglot :) heh…

When I was thirteen I got interested in the Internet and HTML and later set out to learn other programming languages and how to find security vulnerabilities in different types of code. During this period I was a member of the “Dreamworks” and “Telhack 026″ hacking and phreaking groups under the synonym excE.

The articles and information that I post here is not to be directly associated to my employer, but you might see some influences here and there when I write about some computer security subjects. However, all posts on this blog are my personal experiences, ideas, thoughts and opinions, and they are not to be associated with the views of my employer in any way.

On this blog you’ll find my own thoughts and comments on computer security, malware specifics, privacy issues and other things that I’m involved in at the moment. In short, it’s my personal blog.

Other than the technological, political and security stuff I enjoy photography, bodybuilding, tv-shows and doing things with my wife Natasha and my French bulldogs Ruby and Vera.

I was previously a member of the political Liberal-party (Folkpartiet), but was forced to leave as they insisted on supporting the sitting government in creating mass surveillance laws which will mandate the monitoring of Swedish citizens phone and internet activities. They later also agreed on implementing an IPRED1 law which fundamentally breaks liberal and open markets, thus going against their own principles.

In 2008 I joined the Swedish Pirate Party. And no, lobbying to be able to download things is not at all what we do, even though it’s a natural effect of the changes we want to implement. We work to push questions related to the basic democratic values, such as the right to personal integrity and the right to free communications. You can boil down most of what we do (but not all) to keeping the internet free. Read the english party information if you are interested in our principles. During 2009 I was one of the candidates for the European parliament (#17) and as you may know we “just” got our number one in.
