I’ve been extremely busy at work for the last couple of weeks, and I’m lacking in blogposts because of that. The weekends have more or less been like islands of calm, used to sleep and regain my strength for the weeks to come.
I have however been able to enjoy some culture on these islands as well and 8 days ago I attended the annual Christmas concert with the Södertälje Symphony Orchestra. Wonderful experience and Gladys del Pilar was excellent as soloist. The reason for me attending this event was that my little brother recently got selected to play the Oboe in this Orchestra, so it was also nice to see him in action for the first time. This was wonderful and an experience you can’t download.
Last Saturday I visited the cinema (yeah… It doesn’t matter how much I dislike MPAA, I cant stop consuming media… It’s a problem.) and saw the movie “The day the earth stood still“. It was quite OK but not more. I would give it a 6 out of 10, and the people voting on IMDB seem to think the same. All the ingredients were there but something was missing… Couldn’t really put my finger on what though.
And yesterday (Sunday) I had an invite from my friends Mats Helgesson and Mikael Lavrell to attend their christmas concert, “En strålande Julkonsert”. It was wonderful and funny at the same time. Mats was my best man at my wedding and I’ve played ice-hockey with Mikael for several years so it was great to see them again. This was also wonderful and, for sure, not an experience you can download.
Here are some pictures from this event (high ISO, hard to shoot in such low light):
And as most of my readers know I’m not to keen on the current state of general copyright legislation, and all photos are (as usual) licensed under Creative Commons 2.5 Attribution-Share Alike. This mean that you are free to copy and distribute the images as long as you do not modify them and give a reference to me and this site.
All in all, musicians don’t have to fight the future. I will never again pay for plastic circles with 1′s and 0′s embedded in them, but I will pay as much as I have to in order to enjoy these kinds of wonderful experiences.
Cheerios!
